S2E6 Creativity is for: Cultivating community
Witnessing God's creative nature through community
In Season 2, Episode 6, we’re talking about creativity can be used to cultivate community.
I’m becoming more and more convinced that God gave us art not just to make beauty but to help others connect and heal. I’m so excited to reveal what he’s been showing me along this journey of building creative community.
So in this episode we’re exploring:
The very real obstacles to community in 2026.
How God creatively weaves community into our lives.
The ways your creativity can be used to build community.
After listening, try reflecting on these questions:
What challenges have you experienced in cultivating creative community?
Where have you seen God moving in your friendships?
How might Jesus be inviting you to extend a sense of community through your creative work?
I hope this episode inspires you to see the subtle and creative ways God is partnering with you in cultivating community.
Also, I have a couple exciting announcements!
I’m seeking guests for the podcast
The time is here to start having guest on Abiding Creatives. I’m so eager to chat with creatives who are learning to create with Jesus and share their stories with you all. If you or someone you know may be interested, please fill out this form and I’ll reach out if it seems we’re a good fit.
Introducing monthly creative prompts
I’ve been brainstorming how to make this space more collaborative, and I’ve come up with an idea. Each month I’ll introduce a theme rooted in scripture, abiding, and the creative journey on the podcast. I’ll share the inspiration and story behind the theme and offer some ideas to launch you into your own creative exploration of it. This is an opportunity to invite Jesus to create with you, allowing moments for your creative and spiritual life to intertwine. Then, I’d love it if you’d share what you create with us in the subscriber chat, and perhaps even have you and your work featured on the newsletter and podcast. So be on the lookout for February’s prompt!

I can relate so much to what you said, Hayley.
Even though I’m not building a community myself, I notice this same difficulty in finding people who truly want to participate and/or sincerely create a space for exchange and support — not just treat it as “a new audience” to eventually sell something to. It’s really frustrating.
Many times, I feel like a fish out of water, because the effort I make to connect often goes far beyond my own country, and still, I seem unable to find a place where I belong.
But I believe that art, as you yourself said, is so transcendent that it even helps us with this — overcoming language barriers. It is a language in itself, one that connects us.
I admire your tenacity and applaud you — and all the “makers and builders” who are putting their hands, voices, and faces forward to bring more warmth, the light of the Word, and to connect people.
