In episode 2 we’re diving deep into abiding and what it means for us creatives.
I’ll share some revelations I’ve discovered in the Bible about abiding that have shaped how I use my creativity. I’m also excited to guide you on an imaginative prayer activity that’s helped me practice abiding not only in my mind, but body and heart too.
In this episode we’re talking about:
The misconceptions about abiding (what it is and what it’s not).
Why abiding is essential to the flourishing creative life.
The creative fruit that comes from abiding in Jesus.
I hope this conversation inspires you to envision what creating from abiding in Jesus can look like for you.
After listening, try reflecting on these questions:
Where are you abiding in this season?
How is that place you’re abiding in impacting your creativity?
What might Jesus be inviting you to consider about abiding in him?
Plus, paid subscribers will be receiving a bonus reflection to go with the prayer activity in the episode. So consider upgrading today:

Imaginative Prayer: Meeting Jesus in the Vineyard
This is a little practice I like to return to when I find myself abiding in other places and want to reconnect with Jesus. So grab a journal, find a quiet space, and let’s begin.
Start by closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths.
Notice any feelings, sensations or thoughts that are popping up. Try to let them just come and go. Write them down if it helps.
Now imagine a vineyard or garden.
What can you see? What do you feel? Is there a scent in the air? Jot down any details that jump out at you.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where Jesus is in this scene.
There’s no need to force an image, just let the Spirit guide you. Where is Jesus? What is he doing? Maybe he’s off in the distance, maybe he’s right beside you.
Ask the Spirit if there’s anything Jesus wants to show you in this vineyard.
What is he pointing out? Is there anything you’re specifically drawn to in this scene? Ask him why he’s showing you that.
Lastly, ask if there’s anything Jesus wants your heart to hear right now.
Maybe a verse comes to mind, or a single word or a simple affirmation of love.
Thank Jesus for this moment and for all he’s revealed.
You can come back to this practice anytime. Perhaps this vineyard will become a special place to meet with Jesus. I know it is for me.
Debrief:
How did it feel to be in the vineyard with Jesus?
What surprised you or encouraged you from this activity? What stood out most?
How might Jesus be inviting you to return to this space to practice abiding?
I’d love to hear how this experience was for you, so feel free to share in our community chat!
