Welcome to Abiding Creatives Podcast where we talk about art, faith and caring for your creative soul. I’m Hayley, an artist and writer learning to faithfully follow Jesus in my creative calling, and this is the podcast for all of us makers, dreamers, and ones created to create who are ready to let go of striving and discover the joy and freedom of creating with Jesus.
A little backstory
The last few years, God’s been teaching me so much about what it really looks like to create with him, not from the fear and striving that’s so common in our world. It’s been a wild journey that for the most part has been very private. It’s involved a lot of unraveling from fear and performance and inner healing.
I’ve shared about it here and there online, and have recently found myself in more and more conversations with Christian creatives who’re wrestling with the same questions and challenges I’ve faced. I’m sensing it’s time to open up the conversation further, and what better place to start than here on Substack. I’m constantly amazed by the awesome and talented group of faithful creatives on this platform and want to nurture a community where we feel encouraged and supported to keep going in our creative callings.
So on each episode of Abiding Creatives Podcast, we’ll have an honest chat about the faithful creative life—the highs, the lows and the practical ways we can flourish in every season of it. I can’t wait to share the prayers and spiritual practices, too, that have helped me remain in Jesus’s love and withstand the very real challenges on the creative path. There may even be some exciting guests joining us from time to time to share about their creative journeys (hint: don’t be afraid to pitch me).
This podcast isn’t just about hearing myself talk. Believe me, I’m an introvert and this isn’t at all what I expected to ever do. No, it’s about something bigger. It’s meant to spark real conversations that lead to the kind of transformation and joyful creative purpose we’re all searching for. It’s about cultivating deeper connections with Jesus and each other, because we were never meant to create alone.
